Policy Outcome: | Providing sustainable food in Paris’ municipal catering services has been one of the major priorities for the city since 2009. The Paris Sustainable Food Plan 2015 - 2020 helps advance this cause. The food plan primarily focuses on the inclusion of sustainable food in the city’s municipal catering sector. It includes 18 detailed action plans divided into three areas of focus: (i) structuring the demand from municipal catering to promote sustainable food; (ii) supporting the development of the local sustainable food supply chains for the municipal catering sector; and (iii) discussion, communication, and training in sustainable food for municipal catering. The Paris Sustainable Food Plan aims to increase the share of sustainable food in municipal catering to 50 percent by 2020. The plan also encourages all public authorities to fully commit to promoting sustainable food practices. |
